For some reason, I held onto a VHS cassette from 1984. Thanks to the magic of digital conversion, future generations can now enjoy these masterpieces.

Five dorky high schoolers singing about nuclear destruction, the absurdity of social-class dichotomies, and the shrimp at the Sabre Room, set in an undeveloped parcel along Ogden Avenue in suburban Downers Grove--the best stand-in we could find for the post-apocalypse world. How could it be any better?

1984 Battle of the Bands at Downers Grove North High School. Originally broadcast on DGN's cable channel. Jim McGuinn scripted and starred in the clever intro. The RF songs start at 9:40.  Thank goodness the videocassette deteriorated over the last 30 years...
